  The Automation Engineering Technician I/II/III/Sr role directly supports the Automation Engineering function through new project and maintenance construction/commissioning, execution of approved hardware/software changes, and providing technical support to field operations. This position offers a clear career progression path, with opportunities to grow from entry-level (Technician I) to senior-level (Technician Sr) through training, field experience, and increasing responsibility. The Automation Engineering Technician I/II/III/Srresponsibilities include but arenot limited to: 
 
  
 - Support compressor and pipeline facility commissioning tasks for new facility TILs and modifications of existing sites.
 - Gather onsite technical data for Automation Engineers and Compression Design Engineers related to capital project assignments, especially automated equipment.
 - Assisting engineers and operations with the specification, installation, and modification of automation systems.
 - Install, configure, and calibrate automation equipment and control systems.
 - Assist with HMI & PLC software revisions and updates under direction from Automation Engineers (configuration, logic, displays, and security parameters).
 - Implement Cyber Security policies, including firmware and password updates on automation hardware.
 - Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and fixing issues with automated and integrated systems.

Required Experience and Skills: (requirements scale with level - Technician I is entry-level, while higher levels expect progressively more independence and technical expertise) 
 
  
 - Associate's degree in electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, or petroleum engineering; or in math, science, or a closely related field. Equivalent military, vocational, or directly applicable work experience considered.
 - Technician I:0+ years of related experience, with at least some exposure to PLCs and HMIsthrough coursework, labs, internships, or prior work.
 - Technician II/III/Sr:2+ to 8+ years of increasing responsibility in automation, instrumentation, or controls, with demonstrated proficiency in PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
 - Valid driver's license.
 - Foundational knowledge of automation and control system concepts, fundamentals, and theory.
 - Exposure to (I) or proficiency in (II/III/Sr):
 
  
 
   
  - Modicon (Schneider) PLCs, Allen Bradley PLCs, RedLion HMIs
 - AC/DC, digital, and analog circuits (design and troubleshooting)
 - RTU configuration and data exchange (Thermo Fisher, ABB, Eagle)
 - Communication protocols (RS232/485, Ethernet, Modbus)
 
   
  
  
 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 - Intermediate computer/software skills.
 - Effective teamwork and communication abilities. Be self-motivated and willing to work individually or as a team member.
 - Ability to adhere to predefined work plans and meet deadlines.
 - Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, P&ID, and block diagrams.
 - Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC code, including Ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.
 - Demonstrate the ability to install industrial control devices and program motor controllers
 
  
 
 
 
Work Location: This position includes a hybrid work arrangement, including remote collaboration (30-40% of the time), and regular field support across the asset footprint (60-70% of the time). 
 Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
