Unit Overview

GW's Ambulatory Surgery Center provides high-efficiency, same-day surgical care across ENT, plastics, orthopedics, general surgery, and more. Our OR team ensures safe, precise, and compassionate perioperative care, helping patients recover quickly and return home the same day.

Position Summary

The OR RN in the ASC delivers perioperative nursing care within the operating room, primarily functioning as a circulating nurse and, when needed, a scrub nurse. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to ensure safety and efficiency throughout outpatient procedures.

Main Tasks

  • Circulate for outpatient surgical procedures, advocating for patient safety
  • Scrub as needed for select procedures
  • Monitor and maintain sterile technique and OR protocols
  • Prepare the OR, equipment, and supplies for efficient case turnover
  • Document intraoperative care accurately and timely manner
  • Support seamless transitions between pre-op, intra-op, and PACU

Qualifications

Required:

  • DC RN license or eligibility
  • BLS and ACLS (AHA)
  • At least 1 year of OR nursing experience

Preferred:

  • BSN
  • CNOR certification
  • Ambulatory surgery experience
