Our long record of customer satisfaction and commitment to excellence provides assurance to our clients that we have the talent, management, and innovation necessary to solve their problems and exceed expectations.

Job Summary: VersaTech is seeking an experienced Appian Developer with proven end-to-end application build experience to join our high-impact federal project team. This role is focused on the greenfield implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAMS) using Appian's low-code automation platform.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in designing and developing new Appian applications, including process models, SAIL interfaces, records, and system integrations. Candidates should be able to work independently with minimal guidance. This is a milestone-driven and Agile environment where adaptability, ownership, and technical depth are essential for success.

Prior experience with Appian GAMS is highly desirable. Candidates whose experience is limited to production support or maintenance work are not likely to be a strong fit. Familiarity with federal IT standards and a collaborative, delivery-focused mindset is also preferred.

Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 depending on experience. Discretionary annual bonus based on performance.

Location: McLean, VA at Appian Headquarters Please note: This is not a remote or hybrid position. Candidates must either reside in the area or be willing to relocate prior to starting.

Responsibilities:

* Design, develop, and deploy Appian applications that meet business and technical requirements.

* Translate Agile user stories into scalable Appian components including interfaces, records, process models, and reports.

* Build new workflows using features such as looping, smart services, parallel flows, and security rules.

* Create and maintain reusable components including CDTs, expression rules, and constants.

* Integrate with external systems using REST and SOAP APIs.

* Apply performance optimization techniques using Appian tools such as the Performance Analyzer and Thread Viewer.

* Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility and FedRAMP security guidelines.

* Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

* Use version control, CI/CD tools, and deployment practices such as Appian Compare and Deploy and Jenkins.

* Collaborate with business analysts, QA Testers, DevOps, and project managers to deliver work solutions that meet user needs.

* Maintain accurate technical documentation for developed components and deployment packages.

Expectations & Milestones:

* Take ownership of Appian development tasks and deliver complete features from design through production deployment.

* Consistently meet project deadlines across development, testing, review, and release phases.

* Work independently and raise blockers early to keep workstreams on track.

* Deliver high-quality, peer-reviewed code that meets internal standards and customer expectations.

* Contribute to shared libraries, documentation, and process improvement across the team.

* Demonstrate flexibility and accountability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Required Qualifications:

* Active Appian Certified Application Developer (ACAD) or higher (Senior Developer certification preferred).

* Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on Appian development experience, including building new applications from the ground up.

* Strong understanding of Appian objects such as process models, records, SAIL interfaces, and integrations.

* Familiarity with Appian deployment tools and source control systems such as Git or Bitbucket.

* Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in an Agile delivery model.

* Effective communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience implementing Appian's Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAMS).

* Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, Section 508, or NIST.

* Experience delivering greenfield Appian solutions in a government or milestone-driven setting.

* Exposure to AWS tools such as RDS or S3, or other cloud infrastructure.

* Additional Appian certifications (Senior Developer, Lead Developer, Appian Analyst).

Why Join VersaTech?
