How can you make an impact?

The Director of Short Courses is responsible for the creation and execution of Higher Education's inaugural product strategy into a diverse and complex market. Adopting an entrepreneurial spirit, you are responsible for the development of the organization's vision for winning new market share and achieving financial expectations. This role is the future of McGraw Hill's product team, specifically by advancing the organization into emerging opportunities, markets, and products outside of our core higher education business.

This position can work remotely within the United States.

What You'll do:

  • Innovate and execute a multi-year product strategy aimed at unlocking financial growth opportunities in new markets within the higher education and adjacent markets across multiple channels.
  • Evaluate the competitive landscape, emerging industry trends, and regulatory shifts to proactively inform and refine product strategy.
  • Author complex business cases and persuade stakeholders on strategy to secure funding from MHE's CEO and owners
  • Pinpoint gaps in the market, assess evolving customer requirements, and define targeted market entry strategies to maximize impact.
  • Translate market research and customer insights into innovative product strategies, including strategic partnerships, that drive growth, differentiation, and long-term success.
  • Leverage business acumen, interpersonal skills, and enterprise expertise to build and align cross-functional teams-including product, sales, marketing, and customer success-to ensure product-market fit and seamless go-to-market execution.
  • Serve as a champion for product initiatives at all organizational levels, delivering compelling presentations and securing buy-in from senior leadership and key stakeholders.

What you will bring to the role (5-7+ years in the following):

  • Strategic Data Analysis and Market Innovation: Demonstrated expertise in analyzing complex data sets to inform strategic planning and drive product innovation in competitive and saturated markets.
  • Financial Leadership and P&L Oversight: Proven ability to create, manage, and optimize P&L frameworks to capitalize on new market opportunities and ensure sustainable financial growth.
  • Compelling Product Advocacy and Storytelling: Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with a track record of pitching transformative product ideas to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external partners.
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Extensive experience in fostering collaboration across organizational levels and functions, effectively aligning teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Executive Leadership and Strategic Problem-Solving: Strong leadership capabilities, combining strategic thinking and problem-solving to influence, motivate, and drive results across complex organizational structures.
  • Agility in Dynamic Environments: Adept at navigating ambiguity and adapting quickly to shifting market conditions, ensuring resilience and innovation in fast-paced environments.

  • Experience in creating, managing, or selling short course, credential products across channels
  • Consultancy experience
  • Desire to build own business as general manager within McGraw Hill

The pay range for this position is between $90,000-$170,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Click here to learn more about our benefit offerings.
