Description

The McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering at The University of Texas Austin has an opening with a start date of Fall 2026 for a tenure-track assistant professor. Candidates will be considered whose research makes connections to biotechnology and/or materials engineering. Candidates are encouraged to view these areas in the broadest sense in determining whether their application would be a match.

Applicants should have received or expect to receive a doctoral degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline prior to August 2026. Successful candidates are expected to mentor graduate students, teach our diverse undergraduate and graduate student populations, develop an externally sponsored research program, collaborate with other faculty from a wide range of backgrounds, and be involved in service to the university and profession.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field is required.

Applications must be submitted electronically via Interfolio. We will begin evaluation of applications immediately and will continue throughout the academic year until positions are filled. Submission of applications by November 15, 2025 is strongly encouraged.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, a mentoring statement, and a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, and the names of at least three references who will submit original letters of reference.
