Cleveland-Cliffs Steel Corporation in West Chester, OH seeks a Sr. Developer, IT to enhance, maintain and support computer systems and associated applications through discovery, analysis, development, testing, and implementation.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot issues and address concerns while identifying ways to improve the applications.
  • Effectively communicate progress/problems to team members/leads.
  • Interact with business users when gathering requirements.
  • understanding support concerns, learning business processes, etc.
  • Create complex program flow diagrams, model complex objects through relationship illustrations and design complex data models.
  • Provide input and feedback to create advanced application designs.
  • Complete tasks through development and maintenance of systems and databases objects.
  • Apply judgment in devising program logic while selecting and adapting standard programming procedures.
  • Conduct code review of peers while ensuring code quality and adherence.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute unit and integration tests.
  • Troubleshoot own work as well as others to ensure there are no problems and debug programs whenever problems arise.
  • Develop, enhance, and support the Outside Processing Inventory Control System application code.
  • Adapt a clear understanding of current business process and help incorporate IT solutions accordingly.
  • Communicate support issues and resolution directly with the development team lead and keep management aware of all business impacts.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications and manage requests for changes to the systems specifications.
  • Communicate design, functional, and technical specifications to development team lead.
  • Work with the development team lead to set priorities and to plan activity.
  • Provide solution planning and estimating of programs and projects as requested and discussed with the team lead or management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Software Developer or related is required.
  • Must have 5 years of cross-functional experience working with team members, vendors, and other internal stakeholders in a heavy manufacturing organization.
  • 5 years of experience with: Micro Focus Enterprise Server, mainframe, VMS and web based systems and architecture; JCL, Cobol, PLI, SAS, C#, and C++; Visual Studio, GIT, and ZENA; DB2, Oracle and SQL Server; developing outside processing inventory control system application code; and custom development and software development lifecycle processes.
  • 2 years of experience with Agile methodologies.
