The Lone Star College-Magnolia Center is a state-of-the-art, full-service satellite center that serves as a dynamic hub for higher education in Southwest Montgomery and Southeast Waller counties.

Lone Star College System offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training opportunities to 90,000 students each semester. The college system has eight main colleges, eight centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.

LSC-Magnolia Center offers students the opportunity to complete associate degrees for university transfer and pursue workforce certifications in HVAC and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Student Services and Student Success provides leadership in the daily and long-term operation, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive Student Services program at an LSC campus and/or its Centers. Develops and implements policies and procedures in areas that may include, but are not limited to, Admissions and Enrollment, Records and Transcripts, Advising/Counseling, Registration, and Learning and Assessment. Provides support for all areas of Student Services and ensures that areas are meeting standards of academic quality as defined by internal and external experts and accrediting agencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for planning and oversight of key functions within the area of Student Services/Student Success. Promotes and ensures collaboration between all areas of Student Services to ensure a cohesive and consistent standard of services
  2. Manages, monitors, and administers area budgets. Implements budget controls and performs needs assessments for development of annual budgeting recommendations
  3. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates department employees at various levels. Provides professional development opportunities for continued success and growth. Oversees the management of administrative processes (i.e. payroll, personnel, purchasing, etc.)
  4. Handles functions related to mediation of student concerns, conflict resolution, student appeals, and resulting decisions
  5. Creates, analyzes, and utilizes a variety of detailed reports. Uses data-driven information to provide informed updates to Administration
  6. Analyzes, interprets and implements policies and practices as they relate a variety of compliance issues. Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external rules, regulations, and requirements, and with LSC policies and procedures
  7. Maintains communications with the Office of Technology Services to maximize efforts to increase automated systems development. Coordinates and oversees the ERP system as it relates to Student Services
  8. Serves on and attends internal and external meetings, committees, workshops, and conferences as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a management-level position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
Salary

Hiring salary range is $77,356 - $88,959

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlined below will provide the Office of Human Resources everything needed to determine an accurate starting salary.
