GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Perform necessary maintenance to ensure all commercial motor vehicles and OTR trailers meet the DOT requirements for safe operations on public roadways. Perform annual inspections and install annual inspection sticker(s) on vehicles. Perform all necessary maintenance on yard, facility vehicles and heavy machinery.

Salary: $32.14

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Obtain and maintain DOT Annual Inspector certification
  • Perform necessary maintenance on all vehicles
  • Perform trailer maintenance such as brakes, tires, etc.
  • Report trailers and vehicles that need to be taken out of service for inspection violations
  • Recommend when repairs are needed on equipment
  • Be knowledgeable about various equipment, such as cranes, man lifts, Cummins/CAT etc.
  • Be able to work with and communicate effectively with others
  • Have at least a valid Class D driver's license. Class A preferred.
  • Acts in professional manner that demonstrates the individual has good character and can be trusted by all employees
  • Complete special projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to operate/drive various equipment


EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical degree in vehicle maintenance preferred
  • Forklift experience
  • Must have interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and managers
  • Maintain DOT Vehicle Inspector certification
  • Knowledge of safety procedures that need to be followed
  • Understand the DOT requirements to maintain safe equipment
  • Must be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Must be able to lift 50 - 75 lbs
  • Ability to work with others to get the project completed efficiently
  • Must be motivated and self-driven to complete a task

  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements
  • Moderate to high risk of safety precautions
  • Moderate to high exposure to working on equipment
