Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Benefits & Compliance Specialist to be the go-to expert for benefits administration and compliance management in our growing organization. In this critical role, you will ensure our employee benefits and related people programs are competitive, compliant, and seamlessly executed, delivering a positive employee experience while safeguarding the company's compliance obligations.

In addition to benefits and compliance, this position will assist with HR systems maintenance, reporting, and key employee lifecycle processes. This is an in-office position located in Pleasanton, CA.

In This Role, You Will:

Benefits Administration



  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leaves of absence.


  • Lead benefits open enrollment, vendor communications, and employee education efforts.


  • Support employees with benefit questions, claims issues, and life event changes.


  • Partner with brokers and carriers to resolve escalations and ensure plan compliance with applicable laws (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA).


  • Conduct regular benefits audits to ensure data accuracy in HRIS and vendor systems.


Compliance & Policy Management



  • Maintain and update people policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in line with federal, state, and local regulations.


  • Oversee compliance reporting and audits (EEO-1, ACA, etc.).


  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping for employee files and compliance documentation.


  • Serve as a resource for managers on employment law compliance and consistent policy application.


Payroll & HRIS Support



  • Maintain HRIS data integrity; ensure accurate benefit deductions and payroll feeds.


  • Partner with payroll to process changes, adjustments, and deductions.


  • Monitor and troubleshoot HRIS issues, working with vendors as needed.


HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle



  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with required documentation.


  • Administer leaves of absence and return-to-work processes in compliance with FMLA, state leave laws, and company policy.


  • Generate HR reports and metrics related to headcount, benefits usage, compliance tracking, etc.


Who You Will Report To:



  • Director, People Operations


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).


  • 8+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits administration and compliance.


  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and benefits regulations.


  • Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., HiBob, Paylocity, SuccessFactors) and benefits portals.


  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, charts, and complex formulas).


  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; comfortable working with data and reports.


  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.


  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.


  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth company with evolving business needs.

  • Full-time employment


  • Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours/day


  • Compliance with relevant county, state, and Federal rules regarding vaccinations.

  • A competitive base salary range of $135,000 - $155,000 and variable incentive plan
