*** 20 Hours or less per week Monday- Friday hours are 2:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. except for Wednesdays 1:30 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. Pay Rate: $13.50 per hour***

Summary/Primary Purpose: Directly responsible to assist the Community Center Director in supervising the day-to-day operations, development and implementation of After-School and Summer programs in the Community Center. Responsible for supervising, assignments, tracking hours and coordination with volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Be a representative of The Salvation Army and our values.
  • Create a "Safe-from-Harm" environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
  • Develop and implement educational programs including Mission Literacy, PC Lab and others to document outcomes and growth tracking of students.
  • Develop a systematic daily/weekly/monthly programming system to organize the overall After-School and Summer program.
  • Communicate with parents and community members to enhance After-School and Community Center programming. Have a working knowledge and relationship of service organizations and community action groups within the North Platte area.
  • Be able to participate in public speaking or presentations as needed.
  • Help in program analysis and planning.
  • Send reports to case workers regarding volunteer's hours and attendance.
  • Driving is an essential role of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma (Combination of education and experience will be considered).

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.




  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.


  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key,
  • attention to details and filing.


  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.


  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. Will train on the Lans School Program.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. Stamina to play and interact with children.

Working Conditions: While performing these duties the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions including heat and cold.
