Job Description (General Summary)
Intralox, L.L.C. Quality Department has an opening for a Plastics Quality Supervisor in our Hammond facility. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Quality Supervisor to lead our team of Inspectors, Technicians, and Quality Engineers and interface with Operations leadership. This role is critical to ensuring consistent product quality and process integrity in a high-volume, high-mix, fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a background in injection molding or relatable manufacturing processes. This position will be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm. Overtime and weekend work may be required as needed. Responsibilities
*Lead the group to focus on limited active priorities, managing both day-to-day tactical strategies as well as developing and advancing long-term vision. Aid team in developing situational management and leadership habits.
*Support team in investigations and daily workload by selectively engaging where there is poor cross functional engagement, lack of clarity on next steps, or overloading of tasks.
*Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the quality team across all shifts through agile task management and weekly planning activities.
*Provide leadership, coaching, and development for Inspectors, Technicians, and Engineers.
*Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer specifications. Apply principle-based decision-making to effectively guide the team through complex and subjective product quality issues
*Drive cross-functional collaborative root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues, with a focus on resolving systemic issues.
*Reduce the number of escapes from Plastics to Assembly through a focus on detection root cause and corrective action along with proactive measures such as audits.
*Monitor and report on key quality metrics and trends.
*Support audits, validations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
*Promote a floor-present and floor-focused quality approach. Develop team understanding, involvement, and engagement in core manufacturing processes and problematic parts.
*Oversee and guide the Statistical Process Control (SPC) program aimed at classifying plastic modules based on dimensional and visual defect capabilities.
*Guide the team towards improving specifications, acceptance criteria, and evaluation methods to reduce subjectivity.
*Ensure timely resolution of nonconformances, customer complaints, and lead resolution of critical/high impact quality issues.
*Establish metric-based goals for the Quality Inspectors to guide throughput and timeliness of inspection feedback.
Requirements
*Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.).
*Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
*Strong preference for experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing, or relatable manufacturing processes.
*Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, 8D, FMEA, RCCA).
*Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operation and support off-shift needs as required.
Preferred Skills
*Familiarity with ERP, MES, and Quality Management Systems.
*Experience in plastic injection molding.
*ASQ certification or eligibility.
*Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
