Role Overview

The Head of PMO will serve as a pivotal leader within the Studio Business Group, responsible for the oversight and governance of programme and project delivery across PlayStation's global studio ecosystem. This role provides both strategic direction and operational discipline, ensuring that studio-wide initiatives are executed effectively, with transparency, and in alignment with the broader business objectives.

Working in close partnership with the Senior Director of Strategy, Operations & Transformation and the Chief of Staff, this individual will be charged with building and leading a high-performing PMO function. The role ensures cross-functional coordination, delivery assurance, and effective communication between central leadership, studio stakeholders, and project delivery teams.


Key Responsibilities
Programme & Portfolio Oversight

- Lead the planning, execution, and tracking of complex, cross-studio programmes that span development, publishing, and platform capabilities.
- Establish and maintain PMO governance frameworks, tools, and best practices that promote transparency, consistency, and delivery excellence.
- Oversee the full programme lifecycle, including scope definition, resource planning, risk and issue management, timeline tracking, and benefit realisation.
- Manage the portfolio of studio-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities and availability of capacity for execution.

- Create a central repository of documentation for the Studio Business Group


Operational Governance & Standards

- Develop and evolve PMO operating models that support scalability and repeatable delivery processes across studio teams.
- Create standardized reporting structures and dashboards for executive reviews, tracking progress against key milestones and KPIs.
- Ensure rigorous change control, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation strategies are applied across all initiatives.


Studio Engagement & Collaboration

- Partner with VP, Operation, Co-Development and Outsourcing, Heads of Production, Operations, and Transformation to coordinate planning efforts, delivery execution, and issue resolution.
- Act as a central liaison between project teams and studio leadership, facilitating timely decision-making and resource allocation.
- Build strong relationships with individual studio PMs, producers, and leads to promote a collaborative, transparent delivery culture.


Strategic Communications & Reporting

- Lead PMO-driven communication plans that provide clarity on programme objectives, progress, and key decisions.
- Ensure consistent and aligned messaging across studio leadership, central operations, and delivery teams.
- Prepare executive briefings, programme updates, and delivery retrospectives for senior leadership and stakeholder groups.
- Support storytelling around delivery success, lessons learned, and value realised.


People Leadership & Capability Development

- Build, lead, and mentor a team of project and programme managers with a focus on strategic delivery, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Drive capability maturity across the PMO by investing in tools, frameworks, and professional development.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, delivery accountability, and knowledge sharing.


Qualifications & Experience

- 12+ years of experience in project/programme management, PMO leadership, or strategic delivery roles within gaming, entertainment, tech, or creative industries.
- Proven success in managing large-scale, cross-functional programmes with executive-level reporting and visibility.
- Strong understanding of agile and hybrid delivery methodologies within creative or studio-based environments.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
- Experience working in or with game development studios is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, navigate ambiguity, and align multiple stakeholders toward a common goal.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$186,100 $335,000 USD
