Functions as an experienced team member assisting Lab Supervisor in the day- to-day operations of High-Complexity Testing Laboratories and is committed to utilizing the most current technologies available. Performs a wide range of FDA-approved and laboratory-developed procedures in high volume clinical lab setting. Actively participates in performing complex laboratory- developed tests and validating novel assays.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Must have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Medical Technology/Biochemistry/ Biology or other Life Science disciplines from an accredited college or university.
  2. Must have Georgia recognized certification in Medical Technology or being eligible for such certification.
  3. Minimum of 3 years of molecular biology clinical laboratory experience;
  4. Experience in various methods of nucleic acids purification (DNA or RNA)
  5. Knowledge of various platforms for real-time PCR (TAQMAN, FRET, etc)
  6. Familiarity with gene sequencing platforms (STR analysis, Sangers' sequencing, NEXTGEN sequencing)
  7. Basic computer skills: knowledge of MS Office (Excel, MS Word); basic statistics skills; understanding of laboratory information systems.
  8. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to adjust to flexible schedules varied hours or work on-call.
  10. Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Basic knowledge of assay development.
  2. Knowledge of molecular diagnostic software for sequence analysis and DNA-fragment analysis.
  3. Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.
  4. Skills to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts and to draw valid conclusions.
