DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As Fiscal Management Specialist 1, you will prepare annual budget and rebudget documents for assigned bureaus and assist with overall agency budget. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with the development of templates, analyzing Budget Request and Rebudget revisions from Bureaus, reviewing and recommending options for revisions and maintaining expenditure controls and budgetary information files. You will have the opportunity to prepare charts, graphs, and tabulate statistical data for inclusion in budget reports and assist in the preparation of multi-year planning components of budget and rebudget requests.

This professional serves as Department Travel Coordinator and is liaison to the Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations. Work involves Interpreting travel regulations, responding to technical inquiries, apprising departmental staff of new information and changes to travel regulations and assisting employees with questions and submission of their travel expenses. You will be expected to provide technical advice and necessary research to Departmental staff, affiliates of the Department of Banking and Securities and other Government agencies as it relates to special projects and program enhancements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee; or
  • One year of experience in paraprofessional fiscal administration work, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
