Your Role on the Team

The Data Analyst will support UCI's global TB prevention and implementation science portfolio, with a focus on projects such as a cluster-randomized trial focused on TB preventive therapy delivery to people living with HIV in Uganda. The Data Analyst applies training in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health to support clinical trial implementation as well as data management and analytic tasks of moderate complexity, with oversight from senior analysts, biostatisticians, and faculty investigators. This role bridges UC-based investigators, international collaborators, and local study teams by helping to train field staff, monitor compliance with study protocol, maintain data systems, monitor study progress, and support analysis efforts. The Data Analyst will gain hands-on experience with cluster randomized trials and implementation research methods in a global health setting. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across interdisciplinary and international teams.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Working knowledge of research methods and data collection practices.
  • Skills in statistical analysis and data management using software such as Stata, R, or SAS.
  • Ability to build and maintain databases (e.g., REDCap) and conduct routine data quality checks.
  • Ability to clearly document procedures and communicate results in tables, figures, and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently on routine tasks and collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively in cross-disciplinary and international teams
  • Experience with data management and statistical analysis using software such as Stata or R.
  • Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, public health, or related area and 3 years of directly relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant training in biostatistics or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with data management and statistical analysis using software such as Stata or R.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cluster-randomized trials
  • Familiarity with global health and implementation science research.
  • Knowledge of medical/public health terminology related to tuberculosis and/or HIV.
  • Experience working with international research collaborators and/or multi-site studies.
  • Experience with cleaning and analyzing hierarchical or clustered data.
  • Experience contributing to manuscripts, reports, or presentations
  • Exposure to both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Prior experience contributing to manuscripts, reports, or presentations.
  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health or related area or equivalent experience/training.
