Position Summary
**WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION FROM ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF WORK STUDY AWARD** Under the direction of the Director of Residence Life & Student Housing, and the direct supervision of the Senior Marketing Representative, this position plays an integral role in promoting the on-campus housing experience to current and prospective residents, future Lobos, and their families. UNM Residence Life & Student Housing endeavors to foster inclusive, community-based living environments consciously designed for our residents' personal growth and academic success in well-maintained facilities. Ambassadors play a vital role in introducing the experience of living on campus to incoming students and their families, showcasing our communities and the living on campus experience, professionally representing the Residence Life & Student Housing Department and the University of New Mexico. During summer NSO, and throughout the year, Ambassadors support communications and marketing to prospective, new and returning residents, including move-in, hall events, recruitment events, and the resident registration and renewal processes. Our Ambassadors are enthusiastic and dedicated leaders committed to sharing their residence life experiences with incoming students, and informing students and families of their options, processes and the benefits of living on campus. UNM Housing Ambassadors represent the department in their interactions with current and prospective students and their families, answering questions accurately, engaging with our visitors and residents positively and professionally, accurately and effectively communicating the benefits of living on campus and giving first-hand knowledge of the on-campus living experience through tours, events, social media, by chat, email, Zoom, tabling, info fairs, flyers, and other activities and venues, to support RLSH recruitment, retention and communications. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct informational tours of residence hall
facilities; provide positive, well-informed information about residence hall living to prospective residents and their families. - Develop peer-to-peer relationships with current and
prospective residents; participate in outreach, marketing, and recruitment efforts via in-person presentations, information tabling, zoom, chat and social media, email and phone outreach campaigns to support a variety of department needs. - Perform oral presentations to large- and small-scale
audiences regarding on-campus housing options, benefits, amenities, opportunities, and processes. - Promotes community events, activities, and programs
through posting to department social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; as well as other established marketing methods which may include printed promotional materials or broadcasting of electronic promotional slides - Promotes official UNM on-campus living to other
University students and/or constituents - Outreach communications supporting recruitment,
retention and marketing to residents and future residents and families, such as emails, phone calls, personal notes. - Promotes the on-campus residence halls to current and
potential on-campus residents, which may include outreach and presentations to high school students, transfers, current UNM students, current residents, families, and other UNM affiliates. - Assist with special events, including but not limited
to New Student Orientation, high school and transfer outreach programs, contract renewals, fairs, admissions recruitment events, move in, closing, Olympiad, and others. - Support department communications to residents and
guests. - Perform other department support duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties indicated, conditions of employment include:
- Be enrolled at UNM for the 2025-2026 academic year
and be in good academic and conduct standing. - Strong communication skills, ethics, be accountable
and enthusiastic, positive attitude regarding your UNM experiences - Have experience living on campus with UNM Residence
Life & Student Housing. Current resident in UNM Residence Halls is preferred. - Commit to the position for the current session and
entire duration of the academic year employment period (August 18, 2025 - May 16, 2026). Continuation as a Summer 2026 Ambassador, through Fall move in 2026, is strongly desired. - Hours will vary based upon the department
recruitment, marketing and communication needs. Hours will vary according to department needs; schedules include coverage of evening, weekend, holidays and breaks as determined by the Sr. Marketing Representative, such as Thanksgiving Break, Fall Break, Spring Break, Finals Weeks, move-in, hall closing, and Summer. - Be available during designated periods for callback
responsibilities, which will require that the employee be ready and available to respond during designated scheduled periods of time to respond to position needs. - Be available to work the scheduled New Student
Orientation Dates and other UNM or RLSH recruitment, retention or student-resident- facing events and activities.

- Completed a minimum of one academic year at UNM Main
Campus - Earned a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
- Experience living on-campus
with UNM Residence Life & Student Housing. Current residence in UNM Residence Halls is preferred.
