Job Summary

The Analyst, Retirement Benefits, based in Houston, is responsible for managing the administration and operation of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and delivering excellent employee service. The role reports to the Director of Benefits and requires a strong knowledge of retirement plan regulations and vendor management.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead retirement plans administration: Oversees day-to-day management of 401(k), executive deferred compensation (SERP) and multi-employer plans, ensuring compliance with plan documents and regulations
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Acts as the main liaison with third-party administrators (TPA), provides expertise for escalated HR service cases, and coordinates with HR to resolve participant issues.
  • Manage co-sourcing partners: Supervises external partners handling benefits processes such as contribution, funding reconciliation, etc.., audits work for regulatory compliance and seeks efficiency improvements.
  • Oversee audit and compliance testing: Lead annual audits, Form 5500 filings, compliance testing, and maintaining legal notices.
  • Ensure data integrity: Maintains accuracy of vendor files, plan data, payroll deductions, contributions and system integrations and conducts ongoing audits
  • Develop communication materials: Collaborates with TPAs to create education and awareness content about retirement offering
  • Support plan changes and funding: Leads technical updates for plan changes and year-end processing, including funding coordination and cost analysis.
  • Additional duties: Facilitate SERP open enrollments, manage Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), contribute innovative retirement plan strategies and perform other assigned tasks.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3- 5 years of HR or related experience managing retirement plans required
  • Knowledge of ERISA, DOL, 401(k), Form 5500 and other laws and legislative requirements
  • Experience in using vendor portal for plan sponsor administration required (e.g., Fidelity's PSW, SAP)
  • Other - Experience in fast paced, high volume environment with ability to handle a busy workload

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong attention to details
  • Excellent analytical, advanced MS Excel proficiency and mathematical skills


Working Conditions

  • Capable to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment
  • Ability to participate in required overnight travel as needed


Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
