Job Description

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the Museum's education mission by administering the volunteer program, scheduling group visits, coordinating outreach and partnerships, and assisting in the delivery of formal and informal educational experiences on-site, off-site, and virtually.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer the volunteer program to ensure smooth operations, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and ongoing communication with volunteers.
  • Schedule and coordinate group visits to the museum, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for visitors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain outreach programs and partnerships, promoting the museum's educational initiatives.
  • Lead the Museum's Story Connections program. Which includes but is not limited to developing partnerships with community organizations, developing curriculum/program components, and recruiting and training volunteers.
  • Assist in the delivery of formal and informal educational experiences both on-site, off-site, and virtually, including workshops, tours, and interactive activities.
  • Support the implementation of educational programs by coordinating logistics, materials, and resources required for successful delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to volunteer activities, group visits, and educational programs, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, volunteers, and partners, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and educational resources, incorporating innovative ideas into the museum's educational offerings.
  • Collaborate with museum staff in the planning and execution of special events, programs, and exhibitions, ensuring educational objectives are met.
  • Assist with setting up and taking down for programs and exhibitions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

This is a full-time, benefit eligible staff position working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in a museum, with a strong understanding of museum operations, visitor engagement, and educational programming.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with museum professionals across departments.
  • An energetic self-starter with exemplary problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing or working with volunteers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with all ages, from children to adults.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of foreign language skills (useful but not required).
Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $21.50 per hour commensurate on education, experience and internal equity.
