SandyPines Residential Treatment Center is a 149 bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is located in beautiful sub-tropical South Florida and is nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson State Park which creates a rustic, roomy outdoor atmosphere. Recreation Therapist 2- Position Summary:

Job Description:

Provides Therapeutic Recreation services to residents as part of the treatment team to meet their specific physical and psychological needs in accordance with Sandy Pines' policies and procedures. Responsible for the advance planning of recreational, artistic, expressive and creative therapeutic, safe, age and developmentally appropriate group activities for the residents on each unit. Facilitates recreational, artistic, expressive and/or creative therapy groups, a minimum of 1x weekly for all residents as assigned by the Master group schedule and as prescribed according to the resident's treatment plan. Documents all group interventions for all residents as per policy. Ensures every unit has sufficient activities to keep residents engaged during weekends, school holidays and for the summer.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree preferred with experience in related field.
• CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) required.
• ROPES (if not certified, obtains certification with 90 days of hiring).

Knowledge and Skills:

• One year experience in Recreation/Activities therapy or mental health field required.
• Detail oriented and ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent customer service and organization skills
• Highly effective listening skills

Physical Requirements:

Continuous verbal and written communication, hearing ordinary conversation. Occasionally hearing high pitched or low-pitched sounds. Continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulating of both hands.
