The Recreational Therapist (CTRS) opportunity is a key member of the Lighthouse Clinical Services Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric therapeutic strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective treatment is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for implementing treatment activities and makes modifications based on patient's response due to mental illness, behavioral disturbance, or substance issues.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and implementation of therapeutic recreation programs designed to increase, maintain or restore physical and mental health function as directed by the physician.
  • Responsible for assisting patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure, adaptive and recreational activities.
  • Develop treatment plan based on evaluation findings and other relevant data gathered through treatment team that includes appropriate short and long term goals.
  • Provides orientation to recreation therapy for patients by conducting groups in recreation therapy and based on the population of the group.
  • Takes the time to plan the activities in advance in order to allow for effective introduction, the activity and closure.
  • Assures the scheduling is done effectively on the weekends, in the evenings and in conjunction with approved off-campus activities.
  • Responsible for working with a team in the delivery of care and participates in educational experiences for interns.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration or an equivalent program from an accredited university.

Board of Recreation Therapist Licensure and certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) or have relevant Activity Director/ Recreational Therapy experience and be eligible to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
