Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Full-time BC/BE OB/GYN Nocturnistwith predominately nocturnist shifts

The OB/GYN Nocturnist will provide full-spectrum inpatient OB & GYN care at our UH-TMC campus. Limited outpatient opportunities, if desired.

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient management in our newly renovated state-of-the-art Labor & Delivery unit
  • Care of Antepartum & Postpartum patients.
  • Provide coverage for GYN inpatients as well as emergency surgical care for gynecologic patients presenting through the ED.
  • Serve as an expert clinical resource for L&D staff along with routine patient assessment and triage
  • Supervise and instruct University of Missouri Kansas City OB/GYN residents as well as the UMKC School of Medicine rotating students.

The Department of OB/GYN consists of a strong core of specialist faculty with a dedication to evidence-based care and strong resident education. Comprehensive sub-specialist support is available from maternal-fetal medicine physicians as well as urogynecologists and gynecological oncologists. Our fully accredited obstetrics and gynecology residency program is dedicated to providing exceptional educational and training opportunities for our residents to become leaders in promoting women's health regionally and nationally.

Baby-friendly

University Health is the first Baby-Friendly hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and the second in Missouri as designated by the World Health Organization. Both University Health Lakewood Medical Center and University Health Truman Medical Center have this designation.

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global program by WHO and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) launched in 1991 to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers when they have implemented the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. The steps promote breastfeeding as the generally preferred method for providing nutrition to newborns and infants.
