Position Purpose
In support of Dartmouth's Alumni Relations mission, the Senior Associate Director of Alumni Experiences serves as a strategic and operational partner to the Senior Director of Alumni Experiences and the broader Alumni Engagement leadership team. This role plays a key part in planning and executing comprehensive engagement strategies and initiatives that align with Advancement's mission and long-term goals. The Senior Associate Director of Alumni Experiences works cross-functionally across Advancement to develop, implement and manage alumni engagement strategies. This role ensures that engagement initiatives are impactful and align with Dartmouth's institutional priorities and long-term engagement strategies.

* 8+ years of event and project management experience in a complex college or university development operation or the equivalent
* Excellent project management skills and ability to implement across diverse cross-functional teams
* Staff management experience
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* General knowledge of Advancement and both AR and Development processes and policies
* Strategist; able to innovate while respecting Dartmouth's longstanding traditions
* Ability to develop outreach efforts to meet constituency and stakeholder needs
* Ability to provide oversight and strategic allocation of financial and human resources
* Excellent planning and organizational skills
* Strong record as an individual contributor who can work well as part of a team.
* Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
* Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and entrepreneurial orientation

Description
Event Strategy and Strategic Engagement
* In partnership with the Senior Director of Alumni Experiences, leads strategic planning and implementation for virtual and in-person programs. These include annualized or regularly occurring programs (e.g., reunions, homecoming, alumni council meetings) as well as single-event programs in support of alumni relations targeted engagement and regional strategies (e.g., Back to Class, Dartmouth on Location, Dartmouth Book Club, One Day College).
* Serves as a strategic lead on select projects and engagement events, developing and managing initiatives that integrate both broad-based and targeted engagement strategies.
* Applies analysis in support of program strategy grounded in predictive data, targeted constituencies, best practices, evaluation, and return on investment.
* Manages projects across diverse cross-functional teams for a complex portfolio of events, aligns stakeholders, communicates, and operates within the organizational structure to ensure effective collaboration, while maintaining strategic relationships with campus partners, faculty, and Advancement colleagues.
* Brings creative, strategic, and tactical thinking to Alumni Relations strategic engagement to enhance Dartmouth's reputation and showcase the intellectual strength of the College and help to advance its reputation and prestige in the marketplace.
* Identifies, anticipates, and makes recommendations based on trends and sentiments in public and private sectors to increase understanding of Dartmouth through engagement initiatives and participates in creating and analyzing options for effective communication content ideas for outreach activities.

Leadership and Project Management
* Works with cross-departmental project teams and ensures effective communication collaboration, and alignment across organizational levels (e.g., communication and collaboration with Alumni Engagement team on the execution and implementation of events).
* Partners with the Operations Team, Alumni Engagement Team, and Alumni Relations Leadership to manage resources efficiently, ensuring capacity aligns with strategic priorities.
* Fosters a team culture that thrives in ambiguous and changing environments, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness.
* Translates high-level strategy into clear, actionable plans and tactics, that deliver high-quality experiences for alumni and volunteers.
* Ensures initiatives and activities are aligned with the broader mission of advancement and mission of Alumni Relations.
* Hires, trains, and supervises one staff member in Alumni Experiences. Establishes performance goals and monitors progress against goals. Implements strategies to ensure success in meeting goals. Develops and supports professional development plans for staff member.
