At NRF, an engineer of radiological work develops the engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene), work procedures and supporting documents necessary for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and/or nuclear material. The engineer provides engineering support as work is executed to ensure compliance with engineered work products, including any updates or changes needed for work execution procedures. The Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) is seeking an engineer (mechanical, chemical, nuclear, or electrical) to support the Dry Storage of spent nuclear material. Work may include improving production processes, training operators, writing and peer reviewing procedures, designing or procuring equipment, troubleshooting equipment problems, and other supporting work for unique and complex projects. Dry Storage Engineering work at NRF is unique, challenging, and provides many opportunities for growth and development. A high level of personal ownership over assigned equipment and processes is expected, and work has a high level of importance to the Naval Nuclear Laboratory mission and visibility. The Dry Storage Engineers primary work location is at the NRF site but will have the option to use the Idaho Falls Energy Drive building when not needed on site at NRF. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range
$85,200.00 - $133,200.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
