Casual Researcher- Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior

The temporary casual researcher responsibilities include assisting with field work and occasionally laboratory measurements. This researcher will be helping the project P.I. in the field, sampling lichen communities for air quality biomonitoring, as well as retrieving lichen transplants from across Minnesota and collecting lichens from natural areas. There will be occasionally laboratory experiments that would include microscopy and the use of a chlorophyll fluorometer to analyze lichen samples. The work schedule is flexible.

Required Qualifications
-BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years;
applies knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on
precision and timeliness of execution.
-Experience with lichen communities sampling in the field and ability to recognize
Minnesota lichen species.
-Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
-Detail- and Team-oriented.
-Experience with laboratory analyses of lichen ecophysiology.

EEB is part of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota and is one of the University's most highly-ranked units. The department is located in the Ecology Building on the St. Paul campus, but also has two major field stations where students and faculty conduct field research. Many of the research collections of the Bell Museum are also located in the Ecology Building, and the department is an affiliated department of the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.

Pay Range: $20.00/hour to $22.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
