Position Summary |
The employee in this position is responsible for managing
UNC Asheville's Teacher Recruitment Initiatives, leading community and school outreach projects related to recruitment, initiating and maintaining support for retention with current undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students (through
SNCAE and other activities), and seeking outside funding sources (grants to support recruitment and retention efforts). In addition, the Teacher Recruitment and Retention Liaison acts in unison with larger university outreach and access programs associated with post-high school planning (e.g., Future Teachers Conference, college visits). She/he/they advises and supports new students, leads projects to retain students, leads community outreach efforts, updates websites, social media platforms, prepares newsletters, helps with accreditation reports, and seeks grant funding. The employee is responsible for maintaining a budget for initiatives and writing end-of-year reports.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position acts in partnership with coordinators both inside the Education Department and across campus who are involved with recruitment, retention, marketing, career planning, and outreach and college access. This position manages a Teacher Recruitment team of student representatives, including their hiring, training, and scheduling. |

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills |
This position requires possession of baccalaureate credentials (Must have a Bachelor's degree). |
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills |
NC Teaching license and K-12 classroom experience are desirable. Experience with students, community, and school outreach, and recruitment and retention is a plus. Familiarity and/or experience with a liberal arts curriculum and campus. Experience with the marketing of academic programs. Familiarity with best practices in student recruitment. Understanding of
UNC Asheville's liberal arts-based teacher licensure program. Skills in communicating with high school, undergraduate students, post-bacs, and faculty and staff in the department.

Knowledge of the University and assigned unit(s) - Ability to demonstrate and communicate an understanding of
UNC Asheville's liberal arts-based teacher licensure program; ability to communicate about enrichment and scholarship opportunities; ability to demonstrate an understanding of
UNC Asheville's application and admissions processes. Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet needs of the recipient(s). Ability to present ideas in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet needs of the recipient(s); ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure. A working knowledge of software packages and design for modification of web sites, brochures, publications, etc. Ability to facilitate the flow of work, facilitate or direct the office support activities and coordinate work with staff; ability to maintain internal and external contacts for work coordination. Plans and monitors the use of expenditures to meet organizational objectives and compliance; prepares budget documents and reports. Ability to understand issues, identify problems and opportunities to determine the appropriate course of action. Ability to assist others in peer positions. |

-Anticipated 9-month assignment (October 2025 - June 2026)
-Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work during special events may be needed. Travel for recruitment events is required. |
