GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • Provides epidemiologic leadership within the Public Health Sciences department and HFHS.
  • Works independently with investigators and clinicians as a full co-investigator in one or more research programs and in the design, implementation and analyses/interpretation of research studies.
  • Generates first author papers.
  • Develops goals, methodology and procedures to be carried out.
  • Provides in-depth analysis of studies using a variety of epidemiological methods and prepare interpretive reports for research manuscripts.
  • Provides review of entire draft of manuscript and can represent HFHS upon media inquiries.
  • Attends and presents at internal and national meetings. Investigates, masters, deploys and documents new approaches to epidemiological methodology.
  • Conducts clear and informative seminars on epidemiologic methods, as appropriate.
  • Acts as a technical resource and provides guidance to support personnel.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Master's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology or related field preferred.
  • Published one or more first author papers.
  • Currently acting as a full co-investigator in one or more research program and in the design, implementation and analyses of research studies.
  • Ability to research independently and provide publishable reports and analyses.
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages, including some programming skills to develop new statistical techniques required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to interact with various levels of research and clinical staff and to prepare written summaries for research grants and scientific manuscripts.
  • Previous supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
