About this Role - Operations Manager

We are looking for a talented operations manager with a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all Division 62 Substation and High Voltage Underground projects to include: safety, operations, P&L, planning, scheduling, cost monitoring, cost reporting, customer reporting, performance tracking, budgeting, estimating, change orders, billing, marketing, staff development, business development and bid development.

What You'll Do

- Manage: possess the skills to manage a team of 10-20 employees of various backgrounds and abilities to estimate, report, safely build, and bill substation and high voltage underground projects for division 62.

- Lead: have the ability to influence and support a team in an effective manner to accomplish goals or tasks assigned by the customer or senior management

- Team: Function in a team environment, always working for the greater good of the customer, division, company, and parent company over one's own needs and desires. Interface with key internal stakeholders and customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood.

- Technical Skills: possess extensive experience in estimating and construction of high voltage substation and underground projects.

- Computer Skills: provide guidance and teach others on MS Office applications, MJE financial software, and MJE safety software.

- Compliance: possess extensive knowledge of MJE's safety and quality policies and best practices. Demonstrate safety and quality leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety & Quality Management Systems.

- Reporting: possess extensive knowledge of MJE's and the customer's financial systems and reporting requirements. Promote and develop common systems to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers. Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Assist Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas.

- Develop: possess the desire, patience, and ability to train and promote others with the understanding your job is to develop the next generation of MJE employees. In doing so, evaluating, coaching, and providing feedback routinely and often.

What You'll Bring

- Extensive (7+ years') electrical utility Project Management, Construction Management or Engineering experience.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management or Business Administration

- Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.

- Ability to analyze complex information and formulate decisions.

- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods

- Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout a large geographic area

- Extensive knowledge of business, financial, and project management principles and practices.

- Ability to understand workflow, identify process improvements, summarize issues, and make recommendations to management.

- Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness, talent development and operations management.

- Proven leadership, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.

- Strong communication, time management, and facilitation skills.

- Ability to take initiative, own tasks, and be flexible regarding changing priorities.

- Ability to strategically think through initiatives, issues, and opportunities while contemplating unintended consequences.

- Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

- Functional computer skills including familiarity with Adobe, Primavera and Microsoft Office programs.
