Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is the engineering, design, and pricing of steel structures available under the Icon Shelter brands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes the Company's mission and values-based culture through positive client communications, cost-effecting engineering designs, and engineering support.
- Develops engineering calculations for standard and custom shelter projects.
- Reviews engineered drawings and preliminary designs.
- Coordinates with the drafting team to ensure drawings match engineering calculations and local building code requirements.
- Creates and modifies project-specific calculation spreadsheets for steel structures.
- Designs simple concrete foundations.
- Supports the inside sales team and external customers with design and engineering consultations.
- Advises the installation support team in addressing installation-related questions and conflicts.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
- 0-10 years experience in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
- P.E. license or ability to obtain within 2 years.
Travel:
- This position requires minimal to no travel
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with RISA 3D, SAP 2000, or other structural analysis software preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Demonstrated proficiency with 2D or 3D AutoCAD preferred
Other Requirements:
- Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318 codes preferred
- Familiarity with International Building Code.
Other Skills:
- Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge for structural steel design.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes.
- Originality and judgment in the independent evaluation of new applications and products.
- Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications.
