Primary Responsibilities


HDR is looking to hire a Traffic EIT/Coordinator based out of our Saint Louis Park, MN office who will have the opportunity to work on projects across the country from other HDR offices. The overarching responsibilities for the position include production assignments on traffic and cross-disciplinary projects.


In the role of a Traffic EIT/Coordinator:



  • Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
  • Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments.
  • Produce some of the following plans: signing, pavement markings, traffic signals, roadway lighting, temporary traffic control and staging plans.
  • The range of projects that the individual in this position will work on may include: traffic engineering studies, corridor studies, corridor signal timing and optimization, highway/roadway safety analyses, travel demand forecasting, local, regional and statewide multimodal transportation plans, transportation planning reports, transit studies (rail and bus), bicycle and pedestrian studies, roadway and bridge projects, design-build projects, transportation research, and more.
  • Take a proactive approach to learning, developing your skillset, and understanding the industry.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning or closely related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • 0-4 years of experience.
  • Experience with traffic analysis modeling software (e.g., Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim)
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD
  • Understanding and experience with planning-level traffic analysis preferred.
  • ArcGIS/Pro.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • A willingness and ability to learn new skills, self-start, manage time, and think through tasks.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and analytical abilities.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
