Position summary: JMT's Tampa Traffic Team is seeking a Traffic Safety Specialist to be responsible for providing technical assistance to engineering professional staff. Essential functions and responsibilities Assist with safety reviews of public roadways and active work zones Follow direction from professional staff to provide assistance on project work Facilitate training classes for professional staff Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries Attend meetings with clients Coordinate with internal team members Makes field notes and computations Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Experience High School Diploma Active driver's license Experience with traffic safety topics including but not limited to the Highway Safety Improvement Program, Traffic Safety Enforcement and Education, and Road Safety Audits Development and facilitation of training classes in the field of traffic safety Related experience with FDOT and municipal clients preferred Working Conditions Work is performed in the field 40% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Work is performed within a general office environment 60% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
