Summary/Primary Purpose: Oversees the fund-raising campaign (Bell-ringing) that runs from November to December and ensures campaign goals are being met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Recruits volunteers and employees from church groups, service organizations, and other locations to ring bells.
  • Arranges bell-ringers schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Runs an orientation meeting for the volunteers and employees at the beginning of the Fund-raising campaign.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their workday; answers questions, concerns or problems.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
  • Drives Salvation Army vehicle to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
  • Drives the bell ringers to and from their bell-ringing locations.
  • Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
  • Driving is an essential role of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: Volunteers and Bell Ringers

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma and minimum 1-year experience with fund raising events, and volunteer recruitment methods/practices.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to maintain volunteer and financial database.


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
