Performs managerial work providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and establishing and monitoring budget. May plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

About the Department and/or College

The ultimate goal of the Texas Tech Learning Center is to provide students with the resources needed to obtain academic independence and success. Through its peer-led services, the Learning Center facilitates a positive, supportive, and educational environment. Our innovative and creative programming inspire students to develop autonomous learning strategies best suited for their academic journey.

Major/Essential Functions

Research, gather, and assess academic content that supports and encourages student success. Create new and enhance current departmental materials to increase and improve content (for presentations, workshops, meetings, and other deliverables). Support Program Manager as requested.

Coordinate requested outreach (schedule meetings, presentations, workshops) for the department to provide academic success strategies and techniques to the campus community. Actively participate in increasing departmental visibility, including visiting classrooms several times throughout the semester.

Conduct ongoing assessment of program effectiveness and student learning needs through feedback (using surveys, Raider Success Hub, event attendance). Analyze results to guide the development of content and strategies. Provide the department with outcomes through regular reporting and updates.

Responsible for the coordination of student staff professional development opportunities (7-10 per semester). Collaborate and schedule with campus partners to ensure topics are engaging, effective, and provide appropriate learning experiences.

Serve as department administrator for Online tutoring (currently Tutor.com but subject to change). Maintain and document student accounts and track usage (daily) in Raider Success Hub. Communicate and engage users to provide timely assistance (administrative and technological support) to provide a high level of customer service. Provides reporting to Director as requested.

Serve as the department contact for campus partner events (RRO, resource fairs, tabling events, etc.). Ensure that all events are scheduled and staffed (by full-time and student) appropriately. Prepare promotional materials for all events.

Represent the department at university events (RROs, resource fairs, tabling events, etc.) to increase program awareness across campus. Serve on committees as assigned (ex: Academic Stakeholder for department with University Housing learning community).

Generalist duties within department and Academic Innovation and Student Success.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Three years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs/projects or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills required. Ability to critically think and make decisions.
  • Ability to work well with a large group of individuals. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines as required.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze technical data.
  • Previous supervisory experience. Previous experience in training.
  • Previous experience in a university or college setting with student programs.

Pay Statement
