About the Department and/or College

TTU DFW is a dynamic hub of innovation and academic excellence, serving students, faculty, and partners across North Texas and beyond. As part of the team, you'll help shape a vibrant, tech-enabled learning environment that supports in-person and online education, community engagement, and professional development. This position will manage a 27,000 sq ft site in Irving, ensuring every classroom, event, and workspace operates seamlessly and safely. Our work empowers customers by creating spaces where ideas thrive and connections grow.

Major/Essential Functions

As the Facilities Manager, you will be the driving force behind the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our Irving site. Major/Essential Functions:

  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, including facilities, maintenance, IT, fleet, property, health and safety, and security, ensuring functionality and compliance with university standards.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external parties to maintain facility and site infrastructure and address operational needs promptly.

  • Optimize resource utilization, monitor operational budgets, and implement policies and procedures to support efficient and cost-conscious site management.

  • Supervise and mentor the Sr. IT Support Technician, ensuring high-quality IT support, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.

  • Identify and implement innovative operational practices that enhance site performance and user experience.

  • Provide operational leadership and collaborate with event leads and site staff to coordinate logistics, technology setup, and vendor support, ensuring all technical, facility, and service needs are seamlessly met.

  • Lead long-term operational planning efforts that align with TTU DFW's academic mission and growth strategy, including forecasting infrastructure needs, evaluating service models, and contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance site impact, efficiency, and sustainability.

  • Identify and implement innovative operational practices that enhance site performance and user experience and support the development of new site uses and revenue-generating opportunities aligned with TTU DFW's strategic direction.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide staff and foster a positive work culture.

  • Ability to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, safety, and operational excellence.

  • Strong project management capabilities and high attention to detail in planning, execution, and follow-through.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.

  • Customer service orientation with a focus on operational efficiency, responsiveness, and financial stewardship.

  • Demonstrated initiative and proactive problem-solving abilities.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks independently.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with technology-enabled operations.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of administrative or management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in academic administration, higher education, or similar institutional settings.
  • Background in facility management, IT services, retail, or service-oriented environments.
  • Familiarity with Texas Tech University systems and processes.
  • Visionary thinker with a proactive approach to innovation and operational strategy.
  • Proven track record of project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in staff supervision, scheduling, and logistics coordination.

Occasional Duties

Serve as a representative of Texas Tech University DFW at select community events, supporting outreach efforts by promoting the site's facilities, services, and academic mission to external stakeholders.
