THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Damage Control Re-Use Facility Logistician to support Damage Control efforts at the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Atlantic (COMNAVSURFLANT) Maintenance and Engineering (N43) in Norfolk, VA. In this role, the candidate will provide expertise and services to support the maintenance, modernization, and engineering of surface vessels.

This position is associated with an upcoming contract that THOR is pursuing, with an estimated award/work start around the first week of September 2025. We are conducting preliminary, "contingent" hiring for roles associated with this contract. The work start is dependent upon THOR being awarded this contract.

Typical Responsibilities:
  • Issue, receive, inventory, and coordinate disposal of all DC equipment within the DC Warehouse.
  • Assist Ship's Force personnel with turning in DC equipment during ship decommissioning, distribution of material as requested and approved by the government for ships within CNSL.
  • Inspect material upon receipt and determine suitability for reissuance or proper disposal utilizing proper Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO) disposal processes for material deemed unusable.
  • Provide forklift operator to drive government provided forklift to load, unload, and shelve large items from government provided vehicles.
  • Properly fill out, file, and provide auditable documentation (e.g. DD-1149 Forms) to the government for inventory tracking.
  • Maintain regular and accurate electronic inventory tracking utilizing MS Office products via government furnished computer.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleanliness tasks of assigned areas of responsibility within the facility, to include but not limited to maintaining office cleanliness, broom cleanliness of warehouse spaces, submission of trouble calls for assigned areas for the repairs beyond the scope of this contract such as repair of facility equipment and rental forklift/charging station upkeep.
  • Provide basic task oversight to up to three temporarily assigned Sailors while at the facility who will perform logistical support to this position as needed.
  • Provide on-site subject matter expert response to in-person, telephone or e-mail inquiries or concerns regarding the CNSL Damage Control Re-use during normal office hours if not already engaged in out of office CNSL Damage Control Re-use matters.

Location: Onsite in Norfolk, VA.

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel is anticipated, to CONUS and OCONUS locations, dependent upon customer requirements and schedule.

Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision.

US Citizenship Required:Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Existing Security Clearance Required:This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance.A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no active security clearance may still be considered, but work start would be dependent upon a new Secret clearance being awarded.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years experience working with Navy Shipboard damage Control (DC) equipment and policies.
  • Possess a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license and be proficient in the operation and basic upkeep of a 4K electric pallet jack with vertical lifting capability.
  • Two (2) years experience working with general building management, inventory control, for receiving and distributing parts.
  • Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
