Overview

The Transportation Lead is part of the Transportation Operation team that ensures transportation systems function effectively to create value and to support the ongoing operational needs of Transportation. This candidate should have a strong desire to learn, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. This role will have a strong focus on leading daily operational excellence in a fast-paced environment, continued center lining efforts, holistic margin management (HMM) creation, leveraging capabilities, and will enhance transportation systems related training.

The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications will be considered

Development Candidate Will Receive in Role:

  • Deep logistics understanding and depth in Transportation and Transportation systems
  • Business acumen and cross-functional understanding
  • Driving results and repeatable success through standard processes

Key Accountabilities

  • Understand and conduct in-depth analysis on existing processes and offer insights on system health through identification of key reoccurring themes
  • Initiate root cause review and drive resolution to long standing problems
  • Support day to day Operations-making sure timelines met and trans team follows through on their tasks time, coaching/escalating where needed
  • Participate in prioritization of new capabilities/enhancement and provide recommendations to senior leadership
  • Assist in establishing and ensuring ongoing system sustainability via metrics and processes
  • Refine and drive process improvements to fully leverage system capabilities
  • Work closely with the transportation operations team to manage systems to drive value creation
  • Lead the on boarding / training of new department personnel
  • Identify and work with management to execute HMM opportunities, quantifying processes implemented
  • Aid in the development and execution of transportation system strategies
  • Collaborates across several groups including Transportation, Deployment, Supply planning, Quality, Order Management, Analytics, Carrier Partners and others
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to maximizing Supply Chain performance and reducing costs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, IS, Transportation, or other relevant area of study.
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Prior systems support experience (Logistics, Transportation, IT Experience)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (deep knowledge of MS Excel and ability to synthesize data)

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $56700.00 - $78100.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
