Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Join our Emerging Capabilities (EC) team to design, develop, and industrialize complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems that open new product and platform opportunities. You will work at the intersection of Industrial Automation, Conveyor Systems, and Advanced Product Handling, translating customer needs into scalable, manufacturable solutions that create measurable value in real-world plants.

Emergent Capabilities Mission:
Create new platforms for Intralox to add value through emerging technology.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and Architect: Research, ideate, and design next-gen conveyance and product-handling platforms aligned to customer value creation. Create product specifications and make component selection based on needs and trends.
  • Validate: Lead validation and de-risking through prototype builds, testing and failure analysis.
  • Design: Own 3D CAD (SolidWorks/ProE/Creo/Inventor) drawing creation and development, to move project from concept to prototype to production.
  • Collaborate: Align with cross-functional Engineering, Technical, Manufacturing and Commercial teams to gather requirements and specifications build to ensure project success.
  • Execute: Participate in estimation, engineering specifications, design, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and customer training as part of the new product development team. Prepare technical documentation including O&M manuals and test reports.
  • Engage: Plan and execute test and field trials; incorporate Voice of Customer feedback for iterative design improvements.
  • Protect IP: Partner with patent attorneys on disclosures, claims and filings for novel concepts.
  • Document & Transfer: Produce concise specs, test plans/reports, and O&M materials to support manufacturing, service, and customer adoption.
  • Extra: Perform additional duties as needed to ensure company success.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; advanced degree a strong advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in new product development, machine design, test equipment, conveyor systems, mechanical systems, and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Expertise in design and rapid prototyping (machining, 3D printing, molding).
  • Demonstrated rigor in validation and a hands-on troubleshooting mindset.
  • Working knowledge of controls (PLCs/HMIs/VFDs) and an understanding of how mechanical choices impact uptime and total cost of ownership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex trade-offs for partners in engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
  • Self-managed, creative, and driven, with high standards for quality and execution.
  • On-site presence in New Orleans, LA; occasional travel required (<15%).
