We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Engineer with our Chemical Manufacturing Plant located in Muscle Shoals, AL. Essential Job Duties:
- Works with Production Superintendent and T&D Operations Superintendent to troubleshoot process issues.
- Reviews usage factors, process data, and lab data to improve efficiency of the process.
- Works with the Maintenance Superintendent to troubleshoot issues with mechanical equipment and process controls to resolve issues.
- Writes AFEs and executes capital projects as they are assigned.
- Executes the design, procurement and installation of capital projects as assigned.
- Manages the mechanical integrity program. Understands procedures and maintains the MI schedule.
- Schedules and assists the MI inspector (shared with NJV) to ensure all MI programs are completed on-time.
- Coordinator of work for contractor grounds crew, temporary employees, and general contractors.
- Manages the training program.
- Manage the Fire Protection System (Fire hydrants, sprinklers, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers). Work with outside contractors to ensure compliance, document, and store inspections and repairs.
- Learns the SAP work order system and becomes qualified to back-up the Maintenance Supt. and maintenance planners during absences. This includes planning daily work for the millwrights, E/I, and welder.
- Assists in procuring maintenance equipment and supplies as needed.
- Supports packaging and shipping area and becomes qualified to back-up the T&D Operations Supt. during absences.
- Performs safety, quality, and environmental inspections as assigned.
- Assists with assigning and coordinating work for A-2 contractors.
- Meets all Safety and Environmental Performance Accountability Spreadsheet requirements.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Preferred)
- A minimum of 2 years of industrial experience with some maintenance engineering and capital project management.
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills that apply with both maintenance equipment and processes.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Must have sufficient verbal and written communication skills to organize and coordinate work with the appropriate area Technicians and supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to coordinate across multi-function groups.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
