The Center for Latino Arts and Culture (
CLAC) was established in 1992 by a committee of faculty, staff and students at Rutgers University with a mission to research, document, interpret and promote arts and humanities scholarship, artistic production, and cultural traditions of Latinos in the United States, the Caribbean, and the Americas.
The
CLAC envisions a student-centered, learning community where students can better integrate experiential, academic and service learning about Latino arts and culture in order to become strong leaders and responsible global citizens. It advocates for the wellbeing of Latino students and works to create effective access to university services and resources. Through dynamic collaboration with other academic and student affairs units, the Center works to enhance Latino student recruitment, retention and successful graduation at Rutgers University. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Latino Studies, Latin American Studies, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Working knowledge of Spanish and a strong understanding of contemporary Latino and Latin American arts and culture.
- Experience in program marketing and promotion using print publications, social media, and web-based platforms; strong organizational skills related to the planning, execution, and assessment of academic, cultural, and service programs for undergraduate students; and experience designing and facilitating workshops.
- Experience working with Latino and other multicultural student populations in a large, complex research university, addressing areas such as academic support, student life, admissions, financial aid, counseling, health services, disability accommodations, and campus safety.
- Excellent written and oral communication, with a strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to think creatively, multitask, and work well independently.
- Experience supporting student leadership development through one-on-one advising and group workshops.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Professional experience working in a cultural center or cultural work.
- Cultural center management with demonstrated knowledge of administrative procedures, budgetary processes, and staff supervision.
- Graphic design and video editing skills.
- Experience with grant writing.
