Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Director, Student Affairs (Student Conduct Title VI) for Student Affairs - Dean of Students. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Students, the Assistant Director, Student Affairs (Student Conduct Title VI) is responsible for independently conducting prompt and thorough processing of reported incidents involving behaviors that may violate the university's Title VI provisions of the Code of Student Conduct.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Serves as the lead on most investigations, will prepare most interview summaries and investigative reports, appears as a witness as requested at disciplinary hearings.
- Inputs and manages all investigative information in Maxient Database, regularly reviewing and updating all letter templates and forms used throughout the investigation process and assisting in creating and conducting training presentations for co-investigators, advisors, campus liaisons, and decision-makers.
- Consults with a broad cross-section of institutional and community stakeholders regarding Title VI issues, including but not limited to Residence Life, Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance, Offices of the Dean of Students, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Athletics, Employment Equity, University Police, General Counsel, University Ethics and Compliance, various academic units, and local law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in a related discipline and three (3) year's post-master's experience working in higher education or a civil rights area; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Strong skills in problem solving, trauma informed interviewing and civil rights investigations.
- Ability to be a strong analytical thinker and be able to address highly sensitive situations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent report writing.
- Strong critical thinking skills, including how to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges while maintaining privacy and
sensitivity. - Ability to work with diverse populations, have good listening skills, and be able to address
complex situations. - Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title VI, Title IX, Clery Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and FERPA.
