The Scarlet Knights For Life program assists all (more than 700) Rutgers student-athletes from 24
NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports in achieving success during and after college through opportunities for career development, community engagement, and personal enrichment. The Scarlet Knights for Life program provides career, leadership, and personal development customized around interest, class year, and future goals; prioritizes community service and civic engagement initiatives; promotes unity across all sports and collective peer leadership through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (
SAAC); and engages alumni (including Letterwinners) with current student-athletes through mentorship, programs, and events. This position supports the daily functions for the Scarlet Knights For Life program related to career readiness and professional development. |
Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Career Specialist for the Athletics Events - Operations department.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides individualized, in-person career advising to student-athletes and recent alumni (within three years of graduation).
- Works closely with colleagues to ensure consistent, informed advising practices and will help develop personalized career plans tailored to each student-athlete's academic background, interests, strengths, and goals.
- Supports internship and job placement efforts, navigating and preparing for graduate school application processes, tracking advising sessions, and documenting progress to guide ongoing carerr development.
- Provides career development support by helping manage online career tools and resources used to connect student-athletes with internship and job opportunities.
- Assists with maintaining student profiles and facilitating access to employer contacts through the department's career platform.
- Supports career programming efforts by assisting with the coordination of career-related events and employer engagement activities.
- Helps track outcomes related to student-athlete placements and contributes to maintaining relationships with campus career services and external partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience in an administrative function; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
