Overview

Information Governance (IG) is a Legal Department function that is responsible for the governance and oversight of risks related to information management activities, including data retention.

The Senior Manager, Information Governance ("IG SR. Manager") is responsible for working directly with Cotiviti's Senior Director, Information Governance (the "IG Director") to support the implementation, enhancement, and operation of all aspects of the Company's global Information Governance program (the "IG Program"), including managing day-to-day operations to promote and maintain compliance with federal, state and/or client contractual information governance ("IG") requirements. This role will have future direct report(s) and responsibilities.



Responsibilities

    Develops and implements IG policies and standard operating procedures, including those that relate to the Company's business records and client data in accordance with the IG Program's strategic goals.
  • Administers the Company's compliance oversight processes, including operational requirements of the data retention and destruction processes and any required stakeholder notifications.
  • Develops and implements required IG training and awareness materials.
  • Trains and assists the Company's IG Liaisons and serves as an in-house resource to employees and managers to ensure compliance with the Company's Retention Schedule and other IG policies.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., Data Management, Information Technology, Legal, etc.) and the various business operational units to ensure IG concerns are promptly and properly addressed, and appropriate remediation actions or sanctions are instituted when required.
  • Responds to IG-related audits, questionnaires, and/or reviews conducted by the Company's clients, as well as any internal audits or reviews, including implementing, facilitating, or monitoring any necessary corrective actions to ensure completion.
  • Monitors the performance of the IG Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to enhance its compliance and effectiveness.
  • Prepares periodic reports and metrics for the IG Director, IG Board, senior leadership, and other stakeholders as needed to convey the operational effectiveness of the IG Program.
  • Completes all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

People Leadership:

  • Leads the assigned team with the partnership of Senior Leadership. This individual operates autonomously with independent judgment and has the ability to review and approve operational functions within the team
  • Performs time management reviews for Payroll processing utilizing a time management system, ensuring employees are working an approved schedule by leadership, applying necessary time off codes, and adhering to Company Policies for timely approval.
  • Performs performance management of employees to ensure employees are meeting and achieving work expectations and deliverables.
  • Performs goal planning and distribution, 30/ 60/ 90-day onboarding reviews for new hires and/or individuals newly promoted in a role, performance review check-ins and annual performance reviews.
  • Participates in assigned leadership training as assigned as well as enhances individual leadership skills by participating in LinkedIn Learning self-directed sessions.
  • Maintains standard operating procedures as well as training manual and materials.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to team members through coaching, training and/or 1:1s.
  • Completes weekly 1:1 meetings/team meetings with team members to review individual and team performance.
  • Participates in functional leadership presentations for townhalls, clients and/or other projects as assigned, internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • At least six (6) years of professional IG Program experience with a minimum of four (4) years of operational experience in a highly regulated industry. Experience in healthcare is a plus, including knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, HIPAA, and other related regulations.
  • At least 2 years prior management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • BA/BS degree required. Master's degree in information management or business-related field preferred
  • Certified Records Analyst (CRA) or currently in the certification process required; Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic records management associated with the records lifecycle, relational databases, data mapping, data classification, data storage, and tools such as Microsoft 365, MS Purview, and CasePoint legal holds/e-discovery.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive customer service attitude to help promote training, troubleshooting, and the execution of various processes.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required, advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with SharePoint desirable.

  • Decision-Making Under Pressure: Ability to make informed decisions in high-stakes situations, especially during audits, data breaches, or litigation holds.
  • Communication & Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain governance requirements and influence cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Organizational Skills: Capacity to manage multiple initiatives, timelines, and stakeholders while maintaining governance documentation and records.
  • Discretion & Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with sound judgment and maintain a high degree of confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Change Management Aptitude: Comfortable navigating and leading through organizational and technological change, especially in response to evolving regulations

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional travel (<5%) assigned by leadership.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Base compensation ranges from $125,000 to $140,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration
