The Automation Specialist - IOC is responsible for supporting operations through remote troubleshooting, managing automation systems, and ensuring the reliability and safety of automation equipment across multiple IOCs. This role serves as a critical interface between field operations, automation engineering, and asset teams, driving performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: Remote Troubleshooting & Support
  • Respond to and resolve automation-related issues remotely across multiple IOCs.

  • Log all requests in the IOC Automation Repository and initiate work orders and notifications.

System Reliability & Maintenance
  • Ensure automation equipment is maintained and functioning reliably.

  • Accountable for all corrective and preventative maintenance activities.

Alarm Management
  • Lead and participate in bad actor reviews.

  • Support alarm rationalization efforts and mitigation strategies.

Compliance & Documentation
  • Execute Management of Change (MOC) and Safety Bypass procedures as required.

  • Document parameter changes and communicate updates to relevant teams.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with IOC Operators, Field ATs, Engineering, and Surveillance teams.

  • Coach and mentor Field Automation Technicians.

Performance & KPI Tracking
  • Track and report KPIs such as drives saved and manhours saved through automation interventions.

Training & Development
  • Participate in and support training programs such as AEDP (Automation Engineer Development Program).

  • Maintain task qualifications for site acceptance testing per SOP guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in automation support or engineering, preferably in an IOC environment.

  • Strong understanding of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and remote troubleshooting tools.

  • Familiarity with Oxy's automation standards, MOC procedures, and alarm management practices.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
