Job Summary

Essential Functions

• Perform the day to day laundry functions in accordance with the daily work assignments.

• Consistently meet the pounds per operator hour (PPOH) set forth by management guidelines.

• Safely operate and secure various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions, such as the dryers, washers, small piece folder, spreader/feeder and other job specific equipment.

• Ensure that established infection control practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.

• Maintains a clean and tidy work area including equipment; following cleaning schedules and routines for the department and ensuring the proper care and economical use of resources.

• Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.

• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.

• Responsible for daily cleaning of equipment: lint filter on dryer and weekly thorough cleaning of entire laundry.

• Restock linen and any supplies needed and reports restock needs back to the Manager.

• Record daily weights and counts for soiled and cleaned linens using established laundry procedures.

• Consistently removes worn or stained linens as directed.

• Deliver clean linens to all areas as scheduled daily.

• Interprets par levels in relation to loading linen onto institutional racks for delivery.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred

• Experience - Prior laundry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be willing to learn, identify, understand and demonstrate a working knowledge of linen processing techniques.

• Display adequate communication and customer service skills. With time and experience, expected to be proficient in their skills.

• Need to have the ability to develop a thorough knowledge of laundry procedures and learned techniques.

• Ability to work under minimal direction and supervision.

• Requires the ability to effectively deal with the public, patients, staff, department leaders, and peers. Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instruction.
