The Energy Services, Asset Manager - Large Load Contracts position is responsible for the ongoing management of executed electricity service agreements for large-load/ high-demand customers such as data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, large commercial, industrial and other large-load accounts. Acting as the primary post-contract execution liaison, this role ensures all contractual, operational, financial, project delivery, and regulatory obligations are met while optimizing the utility's commercial and operational relationship with these customers. This position is accountable for performance tracking, risk mitigation, contract governance and compliance, reporting, and assists with customer relationship management to ensure service reliability, compliance, and customer satisfaction throughout the life of the agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact for all operational and contractual matters after large-load customer agreements have been executed. Assist with the transition of new contracts from Economic Development to Large Account Management in coordination with other internal stakeholders.

  • Work cross functionally across the enterprise (including but not limited to Economic Development, Large Account Management, Rates, Legal, Accounting, Finance, and Transmission departments) to ensure compliance with all terms of executed service agreements, including capacity commitments, load requirements, construction delivery requirements, redundancy, and reliability metrics.

  • Track contractual milestones (e.g., demand thresholds, service upgrades, performance guarantees) and coordinate fulfillment with internal teams and address variances, breaches, or risks to contractual obligations.

  • Provide input and review of the pro-forma financial models and as-built financial analyses for new contract budget compliance and monitor financial performance over the contract term.

  • Collaboratively support and maintain regular contact with the Large Account Management team and provide KPIs and reporting to address service concerns, planned maintenance, outage notifications, and load changes. Develop and maintain dashboards and KPI reports on the performance of all active large-load agreements.

  • Coordinate with planning, engineering, construction/delivery, and operations to ensure service quality meets all contractual commitments.

  • Provide senior management with regular updates on contract status, compliance, financial performance, emerging risks, and propose appropriate mitigation plans to ensure internal/external parties resolve disputes in an efficient manner.

  • Support revenue forecasting and planning by monitoring actual customer load growth versus projections.

  • Proactively participate in cross functional teams to help resolve material issues affecting operational projects (e.g. performance requirements, credit requirements, contract amendments and renewals, etc.). Interface with third parties as needed to ensure that issues are resolved.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable tariffs, state utility commission regulations, and federal requirements for service delivery. Interface with regulatory and legal teams on any filings, reports, or audits related to large-load service agreements. Stay informed on policy changes, industry trends, and infrastructure projects that could impact large-load customers.

  • Conduct incident/dispute reviews and implement lessons learned to enhance customer experience.

Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or other related

  • 5 plus years work related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree

  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and proven ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ability to understand financial concepts, models and the potential impact of operations on investments and financial results.

  • Proficiency in interpreting and managing complex contracts.

  • Proficiency in contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing with superiors, peers, partners and other internal/external stakeholders.

  • Problem solving, project management and process improvement implementation experience.

  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks, electric utility planning and operations, and project development.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple agreements and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Proven leadership ability with demonstrated sound decision making, even in an ambiguous environment. Able to operate independently with limited direction.

Working Conditions
  • Office environment, with periodic travel (up to 5-10%)

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility in Charlotte, NC.
