Job Summary: Water System Operator: Responsibilities include the oversight and operation of both our Domestic Water Distribution System and our Water Treatment facility. The Water Operator will report to the Building Services Manager and will perform the duties outlined in the description below. The Water Operator will also function as a member of the Building Services Team when not performing their primary job function.

Hourly:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $32.25 - $45.15 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks Note: additional duties may be assigned:
  • Basic understanding of the California Safe Drinking Water Act, EPA Standard rules and regulations ensuring safe drinking water and protecting ground water.
  • The administrative tools, materials equipment, and methods used in the maintenance, and operation of a Water Distribution System and Treatment Facility, including but not limited to: Quality Control Checks, Water Monitoring, Recording Keeping, Reporting, Computer Software Programs (word, excel, etc.), Supervisory Control & data Acquisition (SCADA) Basic Water Testing Methodology used in Water Distribution Systems and Treatment Processes: Bacteriological, Chlorination, Arsenic, Monthly and Annual Compliance Sampling
  • A basic understanding the Tools and Equipment associated with Water System Operations: Pumps, valves, motors, compressors, pipefitting, connectors, soldering, gluing, supporting appurtenances, digging, shielding, sleeving, insulating, etc.
  • Basic Safety precautions and practices required when working with hand tools, power tools, light equipment, drain snakes, machinery, and vehicles
  • Proper Loading and unloading of equipment, materials, and chemicals
  • Assistance with the Water System, as well as Building Services tasks as needed
  • Due diligence with reporting and communicating any abnormalities with systems and facilities to an immediate supervisor

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions / Indoor-Outdoor / Weather:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that occur regularly and must be met by an employee to successfully perform their job. While performing duties in a harsh mountain environment, employees are readily subjected to strenuous physical labor. Additionally, employees will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, wetness, humidity, and occasionally extreme storm conditions! All PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided. For individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations will be made to enable a successful job performance.

Applicants are required to utilize their strength, sensory-motor skills and physical capabilities including but not limited to:
  • Must be capable of walking, standing, or sitting 100% or more of a normal 8-hour work shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, ladder work and reaching above the shoulders
  • Frequently carrying, lifting -pushing and or pulling of up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain: Hills, slopes, valleys, roofs, icy and snowy surfaces, varied heights up to 50'ft.
  • Sensory Motor and Manual dexterity: Seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, feeling, balancing and thus general awareness of surroundings.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Noise Levels in the workplace, normally moderate: Ear/ hearing protection provided Meet all Safety precautions when dealing with Hazardous Materials

  • Mobile Equipment: Trucks, Vans, ATV, Mules, Loaders, forklifts, Snowblowers
  • Hand / Power Tools: Shovels, Picks, Hammers, Wrenches, Turn-keys, Screwdrivers, Cutters, Ladders, Dolly's, Saws, drills, torches, Drain Snakes, Mowers, Blowers, Trimmers, Air compressors
  • Administrative Equipment: Computers, Printers, Scanners, Test kits, Laboratory chemicals and collection materials
  • Monitoring Equipment: Controllers, Gauges, Meters, Video Cameras, Metal detectors, Probes


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of paid experience in Maintenance related to: Water, Wastewater, Plumbing, Swimming Pool maintenance or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid D1 Water Distribution Operators Certificate issued by the California State Department of Public Health or the ability to obtain the license within 18 months of employment
  • Possession of a valid T1 Water Treatment Operators Certificate issued by the California State Department of Public Health or the ability to obtain the license within 18 months of employment

Preferred:
  • Accredited College Degree or Technical Vocational Institute: Certificate of Completion related to Water Distribution, Treatment, Wastewater or Plumbing.
