Job Summary

Is responsible for the administration of the EnergySolutions internal and external dosimetry programs including all supporting documentation.

Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Interacts with occupationally exposed workers to convey factual information on personnel monitoring requirements and interacts with technical staff concerning the monitoring equipment, supplies and set-up needed for measurements and official recordkeeping. These tasks are necessary to maintain a healthy and productive workforce thereby enabling EnergySolutions to reach its performance goals and stay competitive in the marketplace.
  • Tracks employee doses when monitored to ensure established limits are not exceeded and to identify trends.
  • Updates doses, as received, in the applicable (HIS-20) database.
  • Is a team leader who plans, implements and evaluates the external dosimetry services provided to staff and experts, including the provision of training courses.
  • Maintains a quality management system associated with the Dosimetry Program by drafting new procedures and methods and reviewing existing ones.
  • Assists with the creation of reports on projects for submittal to project managers and senior managers.
  • Handles all regulatory-required paperwork and administration.
  • Requests records for EnergySolutions staff and ensures requests made for EnergySolutions staff by non-Energy Solutions facilities are answered consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures official exposure records associated with the Dosimetry Program are maintained as required by applicable regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education

  • High School diploma or GED

Certifications

  • None required

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in occupational radiation protection and/or hands-on experience with dosimetry services

Preferred Experience

  • None



Required and Desired Skills

  • Detailed knowledge of radiation safety regulations related to dosimetry recordkeeping
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out measurements for external dosimetry based on dosimetry techniques and active personal dosimeters. Demonstrated ability in radiation protection monitoring
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and/or monitor multiple projects and activities occurring simultaneously
  • Ability to work with employees at all organizational levels
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry and applicable radiation safety software (e.g., HIS-20)

  • Ability to effectively communicate; speaking, reading, understanding, writing and hearing clear English; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location

  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines
