Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience. Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems seeking a highly experienced Sr Advanced Program Performance Management (PPM) Specialist to serve as a Master Scheduler supporting complex defense programs. This role is critical to ensuring program success from proposal through execution, with a strong emphasis on schedule integrity, risk analysis, and performance oversight. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The ideal candidate will lead integrated cost and schedule performance management across multiple program phases-from engineering development to production and logistics. As a strategic partner to program leadership, you will transform data into actionable insights, drive proactive decision-making, and ensure compliance with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) standards and scheduling best practices. What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; PMP or PMI-SP certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in program scheduling within aerospace, defense, or complex engineering environments.Proven leadership in cost and schedule integration across multi-phase programs (development, production, logistics).   • Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of MIL-STD-881, EIA-748 EVMS, and NDIA's Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into strategic insights and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a domain expert in scheduling and program performance, serving the Program Performance Management Center of Excellence (PPM CoE) to advance execution excellence across GDMS's most complex and high-value programs.

  • Champion the adoption and implementation of scheduling best practices, including compliance with EVMS standards, MIL-STD-881 WBS, and NDIA's Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG).

  • Lead the development and governance of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) that span engineering development, production, and logistics-ensuring alignment with technical scope, contractual deliverables, and resource constraints.

  • Provide strategic guidance to program teams on schedule architecture, logic integrity, and critical path analysis, enabling proactive decision-making and performance forecasting.

  • Drive schedule risk management by identifying threats and opportunities, facilitating mitigation planning, and integrating risk-informed scheduling techniques.

  • Translate complex program data into actionable insights that inform leadership decisions, support milestone achievement, and enhance program predictability.

  • Mentor and influence program teams in the application of structured planning frameworks, fostering a culture of scheduling discipline and performance accountability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders-including engineering, finance, and program management-to ensure schedule realism and integration across cost, scope, and technical domains.

Workplace Options:

  • This position can be supported remotely but requires a presence and proximity to our Scottsdale facility to attend training, meetings, etc.


Target salary range: USD $130,000.00/Yr. - USD $140,000.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
