Salary Range:$95,000 - $105,000 / year

Position Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant works under the supervision of the Controller for the accounting operations in the Darien, WI facility. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits. Determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods. Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in an ERP (Epicor) system. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in timely and accurate cost reporting as well as the implementation of controls around operations and SOX compliance.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Review all unusual cost records and ensure cost data is allocated accurately and jobs are closed correctly.
  • Develop, report, and forecast monthly margins by job and sales category, including variances and their causes. (Direct labor hours-Darien)
  • Perform various month-end closing procedures, including preparing cost reports and related supporting schedules
  • Prepares estimates of new and proposed product initiatives
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance within the ERP System
  • Create financial and cost accounting ad-hoc reports for analysis by internal and external regulatory audit compliance
  • Contribute to complex aspects of special projects as needed
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Work with Internal Audit and the Controller to support the remediation process around internal controls
  • All other duties as assigned by management



Qualifications

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • Direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis, which built competencies and subject matter expertise in Accounting and/or Financial Reporting experience at a private company that is an SEC registrant, a public accounting firm with SEC clients, or a combination of public/private experience
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC financial reporting and disclosure requirements


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
  • We value Epicor ERP system knowledge
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain and report confidential information in an appropriate manner
