Position Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator is an individual who excels in a fast-paced Prototype shop environment, focusing on on-time delivery of quality parts. This person possesses a strong work ethic, is willing to learn and asks questions about manufacturing processes. They are responsible for choosing the appropriate supplier for each order, communicating with suppliers to ensure materials arrive in a timely manner and communicating timelines with Department Managers.
Essential Functions
  • Evaluate suppliers based on factors such as cost, selection, service, distributing capabilities, and availability
  • Create Purchase Orders (PO) in Mie Track and place orders for products and supplies with extreme attention to detail
  • Correspond with department managers confirming what needs to be purchased and the time frames involved with what needs to be purchased
  • Remain in constant contact with our suppliers to ensure all purchases are delivering in the timeframe required to ensure jobs can be completed
  • Work with AP department on invoices to ensure all charges are correct and not outstanding
  • Work with live Excel spreadsheets to ensure inventory counts are up to date
  • Work with prospective departments daily to ensure all updates are recorded in a timely manner
  • Own physical inventory processes each month in both buildings
  • Maintain inventory spreadsheets
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Keep in constant contact with Shipping and Receiving department
  • Function in a safe and reliable manger to prevent personal injury and/or property damage
  • Wear proper PPE when out on the manufacturing floor
  • Be the go-to resident expert for all other Purchasers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Word)
  • Record retention skills and being able to locate items immediately upon request with no assistance
  • Proficient in Mie Track
  • Mathematically inclined to decipher and break down invoices
  • Ability to source products independently
E Education /Professional Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years' Purchasing experience required
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing field is required
R Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers and equipment
  • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel and crouch
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull or lift 50lb
  • Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and adjusting to sharp focus
  • Office environment
  • There is a need at least once a month to perform physical inventory on the manufacturing floor
  • Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
  • Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Fast-paced environment
Work Hours/Travel
  • 5 Shifts of at least 8 hours
  • Overtime as necessary
  • Flexible scheduling in agreement with Supervisor
  • Travel: N/A
