Marcus Corporation is in search of a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Finance department. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for participating in the monthly close process and the production of financial information as well as performing account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and performing initial analysis of financial data before submission to corporate management. Additionally, this role is responsible for daily treasury management functions. The right individual for this role must enjoy working in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment where accuracy is a must. This opportunity is based out of our corporate office in downtown Milwaukee.

What you will be doing:

  • Preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Daily treasury management.
  • Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various corporate entities and identify/resolve variances in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with department heads and accounting staff to ensure departmental expenses are being monitored and recorded appropriately.
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Director of Corporate Accounting.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to multiple corporate departments, while also supporting administrative departments at the corporate office.
  • Maintain accurate records related to theatre real estate and surplus property, including preparation and review of real estate tax payments.
  • Work closely with division accounting departments to ensure intercompany transactions are properly accounted for.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for:

  • 2-3+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's (or advanced) Degree in Accounting preferred, CPA or equivalent experience helpful
  • Strong analytical skills, comprehension of accounting processes and technical accounting topics, and the ability to communicate the results of analysis performed
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems
  • Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Be well-organized in order to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks while remaining detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft)
  • Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks and software systems to meet the changing demands of the entertainment industry
  • Must be able to work on-site at the corporate office 5 days a week
